Packing potent power on serve for a player 5'6", Simona Halep is an aggressive baseliner who won the 2008 Roland Garros junior singles title. Her two WTA final appearances have come at Fès, where she was runner-up in 2010-2011. Halep scored her first Top 20 win over Svetlana Kuznetsova in Toronto in 2011 and weeks later, playing on a sprained ankle, she upset reigning Roland Garros champion Li Na at the U.S. Open. Halep underwent breast reduction surgery in the summer of 2009.
