Agnieszka Radwanska

Agnieszka Radwanska Biography
A crafty player with fine court sense, Agnieszka Radwanska has evoked comparisons to Martina Hingis because of her skills at opening the court with angles and diffusing more powerful players with placement and finesse. In 2007, she won Stockholm to become the first Polish woman to win a WTA title. A year later, she became the first Polish woman to crack the Top 10. The Krakow native's seven career titles have come in bunches: she collected three titles in 2008 (Pattaya City, Istanbul and Eastbourne) and three Premier-level titles in 2011 (Carlsbad, Tokyo and Beijing) when she won a career-best 11 straight matches to finish in the Top 10 for the third time. Radwanska defeated Julia Goerges, 7-5, 6-4, in the 2012 Dubai final. The fourth-seeded Pole swept second-seeded Maria Sharapova, 7-5, 6-4, in the Miami final to collect the biggest title of her career without dropping a set and raise her record in finals to 9-2. She was the junior champion at Wimbledon in 2005 and at the French Open in 2006. Her sister, Urszula, who is 21 months younger, is also a pro player; the Radwanska sisters squared off in the 2011 U.S. Open first round with Agnieszka winning.  Their father, Robert, is a teaching pro who has coached both sisters in the past.
