She is called one of the hottest babes on the tennis court and the one to watch both on and off the court. Certainly all eyes were on her in August 2010 at the Rogers Cup in Montreal when Anastasia Pivovarova took to the catwalk at the players' party along with the other ladies of the court.
She was born in Moscow on June 16th 1990 and started playing at the age of 6 years-old. Was coached by Dmitry Degtiarev at CSKA Moscow and the Evert Academy and she is now coached by Antonio Badellou.
Pivovarova played her first event on the ITF Women's Circuit in 2005 at the age of 15 and won her first singles title in Moscow in only her second tournament when she beat Olga Panova 7-6/7-6 in the Final.
She turned professional in 2007 and on the ITF tour that year she won three singles and one doubles title. In 2008 at Indian Wells and Miami she got wild cards into the main draws but lost in the first rounds of both and she qualified for the US Open main draw but lost in the first round to Patty Schnyder in three sets. She went on to win her first main draw tournament in Seoul.
Then she was struck by a series of injuries which interrupted her tournament play on and off during the last two years.
She lost three months due to an abdominal injury, five months due to a back injury and she also had a broken wrist.
Despite her injuries she managed to reach the 3rd round of the 2010 French Open at Roland Garros in Paris, and she played in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships but was beaten by Maria Sharapova.
Her mission for 2011 is to stay healthy and injury free. She qualified for the Main draw of the Brisbane International but lost in the first round to Jelena Dokic and she failed to qualify for the Australian Open, losing to Anne Kremer of Luxembourg in straight sets.
Anastasia Pivovarova is currently ranked 118 in the World but aims to get into the Top 100 this year. She loves travelling on the tour but not when there is volcanic ash floating around. During the 2010 problem all five of her flights were cancelled and she ended up driving from Barcelona to Italy and had to play her first match the following day.
